Why I Don’t Like Salad
bitter lettuce, watery cucumbers, unsuccessful dressing

Tropical Salsa
Despite the rain (and hail), we still managed to break out the grill. There was even a rainbow, and the chicken was delicious (doesn’t everything taste better grilled?). Even more exciting was this salsa, which I’ll definitely make again.

  • 1/2 ripe mango, in 1/2″ dice
  • 1 nectarine, in 1/2″ dice
  • 1 scallion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 t red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 – 1/2 t hot pepper sauce (preferably slightly sweet, like this one)
  • splash of lemon juice
  • kosher salt
  • 2 T roughly chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Toss and let sit at room temperature for 10 – 30 minutes.

I won’t even discuss the salad, since I never want to think about it again. I really don’t like lettuce very much. I’m going to try and stir-fry the rest of the head!

  1. I’ve had some similar tropical salsa. It’s pretty neat on the right occasion (and the right food!)
